A clinical psychologist and political scientist who built IRIBA in Kigali so that the record of 1994 is held in Rwanda, by Rwandans, rather than only abroad.
Assumpta Mugiraneza is a Rwandan author and researcher on the genocide against the Tutsi, and co-founder and director of the IRIBA Center for Multimedia Heritage in Kigali, which preserves and presents Rwandan historical and cultural material.
She studied clinical psychology and political science at Paris VIII. With Joël Hubrecht she co-wrote a book on how the history of genocide should be taught and crimes against humanity prevented, and she has worked on documentary films about the Gacaca courts.
